Harvest Intuitive Reading: Samhain 6-Card Spread

Why I Love to Do
Intuitive Readings

I love to see the story that unfolds in a reading!

When there is a question, the answer often shows up in every card pulled. And when I don't know how it relates to the woman I am doing the reading for, she often will make the connection right away.

The deck I love to use is the Herbcrafters Tarot. It is so empowering and often points to self-care ideas, which I love.

Reading I Did for Myself Using Light & Love's Spread

Just before Halloween, I got an email from the Love and Light School offering this six-card spread for Samhain. I wanted to share my results but also pass along the opportunity to you to do the same or a similar reading for yourself.

Samhain is an ancient, sort of final-harvest celebration that is more internal than external. It occasions the start of the Celtic New Year and is a time for reflecting on what you are harvesting from the year that is ending, what did not get harvested and what you want for the year to come.

Here's the link for more information from Love and Light: Samhain.

Card One: Curandera of Fire

What I am harvesting from the energy of this past year -more self-love and simple pleasures. Which I believe also means better self-care.

Wholeness and wild freedom, according to the guidebook.

Curandera means healer. So a curandera of fire would be a healer who maybe uses the element of fire in her healing or takes action in the ways indicated by this card.

It suggests that I have gained a deeper understanding the importance of self-love, honoring creativity, living what you love and delighting in who you are.

It encourages luxurious ceremony, delight and bliss. I would say that I have gained a deeper understanding of those concepts and their importance, and have made improvements.

But it's still a growing edge.

Though this card indicates they are deepened qualities that are ready for harvest. Which means I can easily access the ability to grow even more in these areas.

Card Two: Adelita of Earth

Now that the time of harvest is here, and we are transitioning into the introspective, dark time of the year, what would serve me best now and in the coming year? Honoring the guidance I receive now will pay off for me during the year to come.

And according to the Adelita of Earth, I need to "put a new spin on an old tradition." And here's the thing - I have been getting that basic message over and over again for about the past 3 weeks or so, and I must not fully understand it yet, because it keeps popping up!

The Herbcrafter's Tarot guidebook also mentions Brigid, Celtic ancestry, sacred symbols, committing to an "earth-honoring spiritual path," and "creating important symbols of my heritage."

A-ha! I do have Celtic ancestry and have explored Druidry, being a Brigid flametender and Celtic Reiki. In fact, I am a Celtic Reiki master healer.

Hmm. I might be getting warmer! And I will be keeping that in mind and exploring it further.

Card Three: Ace of Fire

What should I release into the darkness, because it is no longer serving me? Since it's holding me back, letting go will make room for more of what I want to create and experience in my life.

Aces call for or herald new beginnings, and fire is an energetic, action element.

This card. the Ace of Fire, suggests that I "take action to magnify my magic," because it's closer than I know. And it also encourages me to pursue an ancient calling from Spirit and "allow my deepest desires to find expression."

Twice it mentions both creativity and courage. So I'm guessing that what I am supposed to let go of is fear and hiding. Or avoiding creative expression.

Hmm. Something else to think about!

Card Four: Madre of Fire

In the spread, this card is about using this introspective time for intuitive guidance, and for seeking answers to my questions. The Love and Light guidebook for this spread calls it "walking between worlds as a powerful seeker."

So let's see what the Madre of Fire has to say...

By the way, have you noticed a theme, so far, with all this fire energy? I could use it, too, because this is the time of year that I begin to lose energy.

The Madre of Fire tells me to "turn up the heat on my creative passion." Okay?

One thing the card says, that I have heard before in my own intuitive guidance, is that the Madre of Fire inspires others as a kind of role model, teaching by example.

I always feel a little guilty about self-care shortcomings or failures when I get that message. but I do accept the call to lead in that way since it is what is most natural for me.

"She is driven by a rich imagination and finds magic in everything." - oh, god, I LOVE that!! Yes, I want that to be me. I guess my guides do, too. ;)

So this card's placements suggests that I might want to seek answers to the how of living by example, and seeing magic everywhere and honoring my creativity.

I did notice that she makes potions and brews - first thing I noticed - which puts me in mind of both essential oils and tea!

It says I am warm and that my warmth draws others in. Well, that's nice. I love that idea, too.

But I guess I probably need to know more about that because it mentions opening my home, and I have thought about that before - how can I do that with you guys? My people.

"Invite people for a busy day of making potions." - hmm. Like a video demo, or an event, maybe?

I will be taking all of this into meditation for guidance.

Card Five: The Tower

What new, fresh energy will be coming into my life, and what should I look out for, now and in the coming year. And how will the energy affect me as I move forward?

With this as a background influence, it gives The Tower, often perceived as a negative card, a bit of a positive spin.

And it says, "be liberated by your acceptance of profound change."

You guys, I know what that means!!

Whoo hoo! Finally A Horshack moment, when I can raise my hands because I know the answer, LOL. Reference is to Welcome Back, Kotter, by the way.

But it refers to a powerful, radical, timeline-healing rewrite experience I did for myself a couple of weeks ago. So I think this means that that change is going to show up in my life soon and next year. Yay!!!!!

Can you tell I'm excited?

"Rewrite your story. Now is your chance to play at the game of life anew." Awesome!

Card Six: Justice

This card, in the spread, is about getting a special message from my ancestors or guides, and seeing what they have to say to me about any wisdom or knowledge they are giving me and how I should heed it.

Seems strange to me, that I would draw the Justice card, but let's see what it has to say.

Interesting. It says to seek truth and to stand on the side of it.

Also says to think carefully about the possible consequences before I make decisions and to make sure that my choices are informed.

Yep, that makes sense!

And it suggests using cannabis products for healing. That sounds like a great idea to add to what I normally do for tension, stress and anxiety.

NOTE - for this reading, each card came from my Herbcrafter's Tarot deck. I made myself a big cup of tea, and got right to it.

Try Your Own Reading

So, if you're aware that Samhain has already happened, you might be wondering I am suggesting that you do your own Samhain reading after the fact. And the reason is, that the wisdom you gain from it will inform both this darker time of the year and the year following.

Have you ever done a Samhain reading for yourself before? If you do this one, come back and share something you learned.

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

Hi Jeanine, once again your post moved me a number of ways. I cannot fully explain it in a comment but I will do so in a journal writing or a future blog post. Thank for sharing. Happy New Year!

These tarot cards are amazing. Your reading was marvelous - and knowing we both have Celtic ancestry made me smile so wide! While I didn't do a reading on Samhain, today is the new moon - and I believe Samhain's energy is still close, right? I had some visitors in my dreams last night who are basically saying... yes, it is. :-) Love and hugs, Jeanine!

Thank you, Julie! Yes, they really are. And you're right, I definitely still feel the energy, and the thinning of the veil. My mom keeps showing up, and it is wonderful to feel her presence again.

I love the Tarot. I have the Rider-Waite deck I use occasionally. It sits upon a pyramid for energetic purposes.

I do, too, Kate! Oh, that's great that you have it on a pyramid.

I have a Sherlock Holmes deck that I use plus a small one that I pull a card from daily. I just got a book, The Creative Tarot, to start doing some spreads with. I had not heard of Samhain. Thanks for the introduction.
